KE Equine works with you and your primary equine veterinarian to provide the

best comprehensive care for  your horse.

Services provided by KE Equine

  • Gastrointestinal Diseases

    • The horse’s gastrointestinal tract is very complex and there are many areas that can cause issues.   Gastric ulcers can be an issue that effects a horse’s performance and diagnosis can be made with gastroscopy.  Chronic colic, diarrhea, fecal water syndrome, weight loss, hindgut ulcers, as well as malabsorptive disorders are also GI diseases that require further diagnostics such as abdominal ultrasound.

  • Respiratory Diseases

    • Many horses suffer from respiratory diseases including equine asthma, pneumonia, upper respiratory tract noises and/or poor performance issues related to the respiratory tract.  Often common signs are coughing and/or nasal discharge and/or noise when being ridden.  Respiratory disease diagnosis often requires endoscopy of the upper airway and possibly a bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL) or a transtracheal wash (TTW).

  • Infectious Diseases

    • There are many infectious diseases that affect horses.  Common signs of infectious diseases are fevers and/or nasal discharge and/or diarrhea.  Some common equine infectious diseases are Streptococcus equi (Strangles), Equine Coronavirus, Lyme disease, different respiratory viruses like Flu/Rhino or Equine Herpes Virus (EHV), and Salmonella.  Infectious disease diagnosis requires the correct diagnostics samples to be obtained and submitted for diagnostic testing and some but not all infectious diseases require treatment.

  • Metabolic Disorders

    • Many horses suffer from Equine Metabolic Syndrome(EMS) and/or Cushing’s disease. Both of these disorders can affect the horse’s overall health in many different ways. It is imperative to get an accurate diagnosis and find a treatment plan that works for each individual horse.

  • Neurological Disorders

    • There are many neurological diseases that can affect horses acutely or chronically as well as mildly to severely.  Many neurological diseases require specific diagnostic testing to determine the exact cause.  Some equine neurological disorders are Equine Protozoal Myeloencephalitis (EPM), cervical vertebral malformation, sidewinders, trauma, Equine Herpes Myeloencephalitis (EHM).

  • Pre-Purchase Examinations

    • Purchasing a new horse, KE Equine can perform a pre-purchase examination which includes a thorough physical examination as well as a soundness examination.  Additional radiographs and blood work can be added on to any pre-purchase examination.

  • Podiatry Consultations

    • KE Equine will work with your farrier to deal with any foot issues from laminitis to white line disease to thin soles to foot imbalances. We often start by meeting with your farrier and taking radiographs of the feet.

  • General Dentistry

    • KE Equine offers routine dental float work with a power float.
